On the book front: We were delighted to see a large display of I COULD SING OF YOUR LOVE FOREVER in the January, 2009, issue of the CROSSINGS Book Club mail-out catalog. If you would like to have a copy of the catalog send us an e-mail -- lindsay@lindsayandmarilynterry.com -- and we will try to get one to you. CROSSINGS is one of the larger book clubs in America.
The local Barnes and Noble book store has replenished their supply of this book again and again.
The Paintings
Something unusual happened concerning one of Marilyn’s latest paintings -- EVENING ON THE BAY FRONT. It was painted from a picture that Lindsay had taken while standing on the seawall in downtown St. Augustine -- looking across the bay. Boats were in the harbor, houses were on the other shore and the St. Augustine Lighthouse was on the horizon. A zoom lens was used to get just the right view.
After Marilyn had painted that scene, the finished work was placed in the Aviles Street Gallery in downtown St. Augustine. Well, Lindsay became very curious as to who lived in those homes pictured across the Bay. You guessed it -- he went exploring. He found the street that ran in front of those homes and then stopped at each house, showing them a photo of Marilyn’s painting. Although all of the homeowners seemed excited about the painting, only one couple took action. They walked several miles to visit the Gallery, wanting to see this large painting that showed their beautiful home on the Bay front. They were so impressed with the painting they bought it on the spot! They were exhausted after their long walk to the Gallery, and since the picture was too heavy to carry home, on foot, they came for it the following day.
Next week read a story about Marilyn’s painting, GATOR TERRITORY II.
LIFE’S JOURNEY
The Tongue
Your speech allows you to be evaluated and judged by all who hear you.- Lang
We have often heard it said: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Not true. Job said, “How long will you vex my soul and break me in pieces with words.” Job 19:2 The tongue is a very small part of our body, but it somehow controls the whole body, either for good or evil.
A young lady was receiving some counsel from her pastor concerning her untrue and hurtful accuzations about others. The pastor said, “I want you to take a bag of feathers and place one at ten corners in your community. Then I want you to go back to each place and pick up the feather and put it into your bag. When you have done so, come back to see me.”
At the next session the youngster said, “I could not find a single feather. They had all gone away.” The pastor said, “Your words are like those features. They can be forgiven, but never completely free from having caused harm and can never be taken back.."
Some things the Bible says about ‘The Tongue.”For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: -1 Peter 3:10
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. - Colossians 3:8
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. - Luke 6:45
Pithy sayings about the tongue:A short intellect usually has a long tongue.A tongue three inches long can kill a man six feet tall. The best bridle for the tongue is a “bit” of love.
